The San Jose March and Rally to Stop the War!
The largest anti-war rally in San Jose history (over
5,000 people).

2/20/04:
San Jose March and Rally to End the Occupation of Iraq!
3.
Successfully lobbied San
Jose City Council and Santa
Clara County
Board of Supervisors to pass resolutions against the War
on Iraq.

Successfully lobbied San
Jose City Council and the Santa
Clara County
Board of Supervisors to pass resolutions against
the USA PATRIOT Act.
5.
Placed anti-war
ads in local newspapers, been on local
and international
television, radio, and even on the front page of San Jose
Mercury News!
6.
Politicians seem to prefer the South Bay when they come
to visit.
We have been there every time to protest not only George
W. Bush
(more
than once) and John
Kerry, but also most recently, John Ashcroft.
Note: SBM is a non-partisan organization and doesn't endorse
candidates.
7.
We
publicly presented our demands to Lockheed Martin
to inspect their
facility for Weapons of Mass Destruction. We
publicly presented our
demands to the US Attorney to prosecute Bush
administration officials
for war crimes, genocide and crimes against the peace and
humanity.
We
supported the Mexican farmers to protest the WTO in
Cancun, Mexico (flyer)
and supported
local peace activists protesting the RNC in New York
City (flyer).

SBM has established several on-going programs to educate
the public
and ourselves, including SBM Movie Night, the SBM
Exploration Series,
and the SBM Lecture Series, and we support the Think
First! Military
Counter-Recruitment Program at www.JustThinkFirst.org.

We have shown major progressive documentary films to educate
the public and ourselves, with our two biggest events being,
"Jenin,
Jenin" (flyer)
at Camera 3 with over 300 attendees, and also
"The
1953 CIA Coup in Iran" with over 150
attendees. When the
Pentagon showed the film "Battle
of Algiers" (flyer)
to its own staff,
SBM showed that film here as well. As the Bush administration's
rhetoric against Venezuela increased, we showed the film,
"The
Revolution Will Not Be Televised"
(flyer)
about the attempted
coup of the democratically elected government of Venezuela.
We put on a Palestinian documentary series to educate everyone
about the Palestinian people's struggle against occupation.

We have hosted speakers to talk about US
foreign policy and the War on Iraq (flyer),
patriotism and propaganda (flyer),
the
media, media
distortion of Palestine (flyer),
electoral
politics (flyer),
electronic
voting (flyer),
depleted
uranium (flyer),
the
war on our civil rights (flyer),
and the
PATRIOT Act (flyer),

and others. Our largest event was Greg Palast's talk
on 4/28/03 with over 350 attendees, "The
Best Democracy Money Can Buy" (flyer).

Web site and email outreach:
The SBM web site is now visited on average by over 225 people
every day.
5/01/03 : SBM web site was the Web-Site-of-the-Day at www.CounterPunch.org.

12/31/03: Almost
500 articles on Global Warming are now
on the web site.
SBM sends out a weekly email calendar to thousands of people
about
local and regional events of interest, keeping all of us
informed.

On Oct. 16, 2003, the
California State Legislature recognized the
South Bay Mobilization for its dedication to peace and social
justice.
