the health of Life on Earth

On Monday, April 7th, 2003, 25 people, representing many organizations within Santa Clara County, including the South Bay Mobilization, read a prepared statement to a representative of Lockheed Martin Corporation, the largest weapons manufacturer in the world, in Sunnyvale, CA.

Our local Weapons Inspection Team marched to Lockheed Martin Corp. to inspect the facility for Weapons of Mass Destruction. We met on Monday, April 7th at 4pm at the intersection of N. Mathilde Ave and Moffett Park Drive for a peaceful march to the Lockheed Martin Facility.

The San Jose Mercury News printed an article about the event in Tuesday's paper (April 8th), we counted 22 people there early on, not 20 as the article said, but people joined us later bringing the total more likely to 25.

We assembled at the North-East corner of the intersection of N. Mathilde Ave and Moffett Park Drive at 4pm and waited for everyone to arrive before marching north along N. Mathilde Ave. We passed 5th St, and when we reached 3rd St, we turned left towards Lockheed Martin Corp. It was about a mile walk. Such a big street for a corporation, 6 lanes across (including both directions).

Our spokesperson, Mali, spoke with the security people, and the Chief of Security agreed to hear our prepared statement and she read it to him, with all of us listening attentively. See the pictures of the event at this web page.

After she read the statement, we stayed at our location by the Lockheed Martin Corp guard house for maybe another 20-30 minutes before leaving.

There were several TV stations filming (channel 2 and 5), a Spartan Daily reporter was there, including a TV helicopter hovering over us the whole time. A reporter for the San Jose Mercury News was also there and she interviewed many people.
