on CIA Torture and
Its Use During Occupations
According
to Jane Mayer's article, "The
CIA's Travel Agent" in the October,
2006 issue of The New Yorker Magazine,
Jeppesen
Dataplan, Inc. of San Jose, California,
supports the CIA's torture operations. However,
since the ACLU has documented dozens and dozens
of cases where the CIA has tortured people to
death, this means Jeppesen is
also supporting torturing people to death.
Two important recent examples of the heinous crimes
by the CIA are described below where a Canadian
citizen, Maher Arar and also Khaled Al Masri,
both of whom are innocent, were kidnapped by the
CIA (Bush calls kidnapping "extraordinary
rendition").
However, innocence isn't the point. In a civilized
society, "innocence" is assumed by default.
A person is innocent until proven guilty. It's
the job of the prosecution to accuse someone of
a crime, then prove guilt beyond a shadow of a
doubt. Since it is impossible to prove a negative,
it would be practically impossible for someone
to prove themselves innocent if they were presumed
guilty. However, that is exactly what Bush does
now. Bush has declared himself above the law and
given himself dictatorial powers with the sole
right to be able to declare the guilt or innocence
of someone without having to prove anything to
anyone. Tragically, the US Congress has decided
to support Bush in his crimes and his totalitarian
power grab.
Note the similar criminal mentality with the NSA
claiming to be able to find terrorists by violating
the constitution and wiretapping anyone without
a warrant. Read Floyd
Rudmin's brilliant article where
he proves that it's statistically impossible for
spying to detect terrorists, and he shows that
the NSA clearly knows this. But there is another
reason why the NSA would spy on Americans, and
that is political repression, social control and
suppression of dissent.

Trailer
Directed
by
Gillo Pontecorvo
Gillo
Pontecorvo's 1966 film, "The Battle of
Algiers," about the French occupation of
Algeria in the 1950's, is often billed as an
objective account of the "bloodiest revolution
in modern history."
In August 2003, the Pentagon screened this film
for their staff to prepare them for what to
expect during the US occupation of Iraq. Banned
in France in 1965. Millions of Algerians lost
their lives before they freed themselves from
French tyranny.

right now in Iraq, I recommend 'The Battle of
Algiers'", Zbigniew Brzezinski, former
national-security advisor |

Short Clip
Directed
by
Gillo Pontecorvo
In this scene from Gillo Pontecorvo's
1966 film, French Colonel Mathieu addresses
the media, who want to know about his program
of torture.
Mathieu asks the important question:
Should France stay in Algeria? If yes, then
you must accept all the consequences. What follows
are scenes of the French torturing Algerians.
Read Alfred Memmi's 1965 book about the French
occupation of Algeria, "The Colonizer
and the Colonized" to learn how
colonization and occupation destroys the humanity
of both the occupier and the occupied.
