In the run-up to the invasion of Iraq, Scott Ritter's claims that Iraq had been disarmed were ignored by both Bush and the mainstream media. Since then, Ritter has been vindicated. Now Ritter has set his sights on the White House's hyping of Iran's alleged nuclear weapons program. In Target Iran he once again sets the record straight. Jeff Cohen will describe the problems with the media, including the television network resistance to interviews with Scott Ritter.

"George... your reckless and wanton foreign policies killed my son, Spc. Casey Austin Sheehan, in the illegal and unjust war on Iraq. Helping to bring about your political downfall will be the most noble accomplishment of my life, and I will bring justice for my son and the hundreds of other brave Americans and tens of thousands of innocent Iraqis your lies have killed."

Iraq Protester Sheehan Cleared of Most NY Charges, by Jeanne King (12/11/06)

NEW YORK - Anti-war protester Cindy Sheehan and three co-defendants were found guilty of a minor violation and cleared of more serious charges on Monday for blocking the entrance to the U.S. mission to the United Nations during a protest in March.

The four women, who were fined and told to stay out of trouble with the law, said they would return to the New York City building to deliver a petition calling for an end to the Iraq war.

Sheehan became famous for protesting the Iraq war outside President George W. Bush's Texas ranch in 2005 after her soldier son Casey was killed in Iraq in 2004, and has become one of the country's most recognizable anti-war protesters.

A six-member jury at Manhattan Criminal Court found Sheehan and three other women innocent of resisting arrest, obstruction of government administration and disorderly conduct for a protest at the U.S. mission, which is housed in a privately owned building in Manhattan. [ click here for more... ]

"Activist Sheehan arrested in House gallery"

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Peace activist Cindy Sheehan was arrested Tuesday in the House gallery after refusing to cover up a T-shirt bearing an anti-war slogan before President Bush's State of the Union address.

According to a blog post on Michael Moore's Web site attributed to Sheehan, the T-shirt said, "2,245 Dead. How many more?" -- a reference to the number of U.S. troops killed in Iraq.

"She was asked to cover it up. She did not," said Sgt. Kimberly Schneider, U.S. Capitol police spokeswoman.

We were told if we moved across the street onto the other public sidewalk that our petition would be received. We refused and said we would go to the nearest public sidewalk in front of the building and we would give our petition to a representative of the US Mission—that request was refused. We were told if we didn't move to the other side of the street, we would be arrested.

We refused to move.

Monday, January 1st, 5:00 pm

12/31/06: The Pentagon has just announced today (Sunday) that
the deaths of two soldiers have increased the number of Americans
killed in the US War on Iraq to at least 3,000.

The Candlelight Vigil event described below will be held
on Monday, 1/1/07 at 5:00pm (see below).

The 3,000th US Military Person
Has Been Killed in Iraq.

Who:
You! Everyone is invited to participate!
What:
A candlelight vigil to commemorate the continuing sacrifice
of US military personnel's lives in order to advance the
on-going genocidal slaughter of over one million Iraqi civilians
by the hands of the US military.
Where:
The corner of Winchester Blvd and Stevens Creek Blvd, San Jose
When:
5:00pm - 7:00pm - The day after the announcement of the 3,000th US military person's death, a candlelight vigil will be held from 5pm - 7pm.

Example: If the 3,000th death is announced 12/31 Sunday, then
the candlelight vigil will be held the next day at 5pm on 1/1/07 Monday.

Register for this event here...
(optional, feel free to just show up!)
How:
Come one, come all, by foot, by bicycle, by bus and by car.
Why:
Each of us can always choose who we want to be, who we want to become, in the face of our government's war profiteering, corruption, genocidal slaughter, and the plundering of other people's resources. Choose well my friends and the inner peace you find,
you can share with others.
Also:
In addition, the regularly scheduled weekly anti-war protest
at this same location will be held this weekend as follows:
- Saturday, 12/30/06, 11:30 am - 2:00 pm
- Sunday, 12/31/06, 11:30 am - 2:00 pm

The US has killed over 2.5% of the Iraqi population since 2003.
The US has killed over 5.8% of the Iraqi population since 1991.

The US has brought it's show-trial of US-installed dictator of Iraq,
Saddam Hussein, to a close by hanging him on Friday night (12/29/06).
In this show trial, there was no protection for witnesses or even
defense lawyers (3 defense lawyers were assassinated during the trial).
The best the spare-no-expense show-trial prosecution was able to prove
that Saddam Hussein did was kill 148 people in 1982 in Dujail. Why is that?

The Dictator Saddam Hussein certainly committed far worse crimes than that.

Could it be that digging too deep would reveal the US' well known
support for Saddam during his worst atrocities?

If killing 148 people deserves a public hanging, then
what does killing 654,965 innocent Iraqi civilians deserve?
Bush has killed over 654,965 Iraqi civilians (2.5% of Iraq) just since 2003!

Join us to let everyone know what we all want:

End the US War on Iraq!
Bring All the Troops Home Now!
Impeach Bush & Cheney!
