A Call to Participate in a Public Show Of
No-Confidence in the Bush Administration
On
March 20, 2005, a broad coalition of peace and social
justice organizations are planning a major demonstration
of protest and demands directed at the administration
in Washington. Delegations from groups on the Peninsula
and the South Bay will gather at the Plaza de Cesar
Chavez in downtown San Jose to give voice to a rising
feeling of doubt and anger at the direction in which
the Bush administration is leading our country.
Ranging
from the floundering occupation of Iraq to the coming
assault on one of our nation’s sacred institutions,
Social Security, from the clearly outlined world imperial
project to the bankrupting policy of tax giveaways
for the wealthy, from the alienation of even this
nation’s traditional friends to the assault
on our civil liberties, the people of the Bay Area
will express their opinions, and their remedies, for
the looming disaster we perceive on the horizon if
no organized opposition were to emerge.
Since
this event is planned with the intention of laying
down a challenge to a huge array of issues, both foreign
and domestic, there will be an extraordinary range
of groups, each with its own basic concerns about
our nation’s future. We are seeking the support,
the endorsement, the participation and their financial
support to make this exceptional event a booming success.
Any and all groups with progressive agendas, either
foreign or domestic, are urged to respond to this
call.
The
program will feature a march and a rally with speakers.
The most salient feature will be a fair in which the
participating groups will be invited to set up tables
to display their literature and engage each other
in conversation. |

Peace
Train, by Cat Stevens
Now I’ve been happy lately, thinking about the good
things to come
And I believe it could be, something good has begun
Oh
I’ve been smiling lately, dreaming about the world
as one
And I believe it could be, some day it’s going to
come
Cause
out on the edge of darkness, there rides a peace train
Oh peace train take this country, come take me home again
Now
I’ve been smiling lately, thinking about the good
things to come
And I believe it could be, something good has begun
Oh
peace train sounding louder
Glide on the peace train
Come on now peace train
Yes, peace train holy roller
Everyone
jump upon the peace train
Come on now peace train
Get
your bags together, go bring your good friends too
Cause it’s getting nearer, it soon will be with you
Now
come and join the living, it’s not so far from you
And it’s getting nearer, soon it will all be true
Now
I’ve been crying lately, thinking about the world
as it is
Why must we go on hating, why can’t we live in bliss
Cause
out on the edge of darkness, there rides a peace train
Oh peace train take this country, come take me home again
